By working with organizations in our community that do work we believe in, RZCG has helped our partners:

English Learners Success Forum is a collaboration of researchers, teachers, district leaders, and funders who are passionate about improving the quality and accessibility of instructional materials for English learners (ELs). The organization needed short term COO support in addition to help with planning and executing a fiscal sponsorship spin off. The RZCG team helped the leadership team define their needs and hire a great COO to support organizational growth in parallel to building out systems to support a standalone organization. We facilitated a quick and efficient spin-off in a short amount of time. Our goal was to ensure spin-off activities did not distract staff from mission critical work. As follow-on support, RZCG helped ELSF with incremental CFO services.

The Oakland REACH is a parent-led group that is empowering parents from our most underserved communities to demand high quality schools for their children, and to disrupt systematic educational inequity in public schools. We supported The Oakland REACH with interim COO services as well as some strategic finance support. RZCG originally supported The Oakland REACH as an interim Chief of Staff, but with a senior staff transition, moved in to support COO functions for the organization, including overseeing CFO activities. Our support is helping the organization improve operational efficiency and execute on ambitious goals for growth beyond the Oakland community.

The Scientific Philanthropy Alliance aims to foster and increase philanthropic support for scientific research and strategically identify where funding is needed most. Additionally they enable community focused networking, collaborations, and focused partnerships. RZCG supported SPA with planning a comprehensive fiscal sponsor spin-off, including org formation, governance, finance, human capital, operations, and change management. The team also conducted an executive search process to hire their first COO, leveraging SPA staff and board time creatively to maximize results. The new COO will lead the spin-off with support from the RZCG team. Our support has helped set SPA up for future growth and expanded impact in the scientific research space.

Operations Assessment and Support
Climate Lead provides advisory services to help philanthropists find their path to impact. By matching interests and passions with solutions, CL helps donors make informed and impactful investments. RZCG partnered with CL to help plan and execute a thoughtful fiscal sponsor spin-off. In addition to defining key financial, operations, human capital, and compliance structures, RZCG also facilitated a creative approach to building the right governance board to support the organizational needs of today and tomorrow. RZCG made sure the spin-off plan and execution allowed staff to focus on strategic outcomes and minimize the change management burden.

Board Structures and Governance
Healing Schools Project’s primary goal is to retain educators, especially educators of color, by focusing on teacher mental health and well-being as well as working to change school polices, practices, and culture from an anti-racist approach. Trained facilitators work diligently to create a safe environment for staff to share experiences as educators and discuss potential barriers preventing them from staying in the profession. HSP was interested in spinning-off into their own nonprofit, curious what that would entail, and then design a general work plan and timeline for the process. All of this was reported accomplished after working with RZCG. Upon wrap up, Healing Schools Project reported “Emma and Luis listened to our specific needs and wants as an organization and thoughtfully took those into consideration throughout the process”.
